what song makes you turn up the car radio and start singing!.
song that kicks in the automatic pilot and takes over.. i heard a bunch of "steely dan" on the radio today and most of the songs i had completely forgotten about.
they made some good songs in the 70's/80's.

Ashitaka, I don't like WB network either, but they came up with a pretty great show recently. The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. It's a hidden camera show that is very funny, it's well worth checking out.
The worst one Tink and I got sucked into was "Married By America". Both couples ended up jilting their prospective "mates" at the end. We both vowed never to get suckered like that again.
Our main shows we watch are on TLC, "Forensic Science", "New Detectives", and "City Confidential".

Collective Soul "Shine" and "Heavy", Talking Heads "Burning down the House", Stevie Winwood "Freedom Overkill", Eric Clapton "Bell Bottom Blues" and "Layla". There are so many. But these are some of my favorites that get me singing.

Oh Yeah...One more good one is Mountain "Mississppi Queen"
as most are aware, vicki boer has been long awaiting a decision to be handed down in a case she started against the society in canada.. the decision was handed down today.
as with any 55 page decision, it will take some time for the legal experts to hash it over and decipher what was said.
but, in a nutshell..... vicki won.
Congratulations Viki!! Even if the amount was $1, it shows the world that the WTS is guilty of allowing peodophiles to remain protected within their organization. The person who has to authorize the payment will be chocking and fuming as he does it. They know very well that this is just the begining of future victories of those who have fallen victim to the WTS. Your case has established a precedent that will aid others in their efforts to show how wrong the WTS is for not admiting their rules need to be changed, and that they are responsible and will be held accountable.

having to knock on strangers doors, giving a talk in front of an audience, being questioned by the elders, having to go to 5 meetings???....etc.
and the winner is------------
Having to explain to a non-JW friend of mine why we would allow anyone to bleed to death without trying to save them with a blood transfusion!

Hi Nubian..Welcome to the board!!!!!

back in 1991, a young brother maybe 18 years old living next to my place committed suicide.
his father expected him to be very zealous just like he was, but the son never wanted to be like that.
he was always controlled by his father.
I knew of five: An older sister who was looked up to by many as a model JW who endured a serious illness which involved the blood issue. Years later she was found in the garage with the car running. She did not leave a note.
A brother who was about 39 years old with two children and a wife who was not a JW was found in his car with a hose stuck in the window. He left a note saying something about not being able to live with the stress of being in a divided household, refering to his wife.
A young man about 25 who was studying with an elder friend of mine hung himself in his back yard. He was battling drug abuse and was being told by this elder to just concentrate on the "truth" and his life will turn around for the better, no more worries...blah, blah..As I stated, I knew the guy he was studying with and sat in on a few of the study's he had with him. What the guy needed was direction to professional help, but that was "forbiden"..what a waste. The guy's older sister was a JW and she was feeding him the same crap about the "Truth" being the answer to his drug addiction.
Tink's Dad shot himself a month after we got married, in their living room right in front of her mother. He was never a witness, but made many attempts to try and become one. He was constantly pressured to change his life by joining. His health was very bad and was in danger of having both his feet amputated due to diabetes. His last words to her mother was, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired".
Tink's brother's wife had a twin brother to shoot himself. He got involved with someone in another country and got caught. He shot his self the day before he was going to have to go to a judicial committee.
Those are only the cases I knew personally about. I have however, heard of countless others who for the most part suffered from depression or just couldn't take the pressure from being involved with the JW religion. It's very sad to say the least.

as some of you may remember, i started a new job a month ago and discovered a co-worker was a jw (saw an "examing" book in his drawer, and he spoke of not celebrating birthdays).
well, one day some of us newbies were talking and somehow someone started telling really bad jw jokes.
now, all during hr indoctrination, we were told never to make jokes about someone's religion (duh) because that person could be offended and report the source of the jokes.
Hi Beryl..Thats an interesting post. I noticed that people in general do not notice JW's and aren't familiar with the literature. Usually the only way they find out is when they ask them to join in birthdays or holidays. I found JW's keep a low profile. I never did. I have a very friendly nature and was always well liked by fellow workers even after devulging I was a witness. Last year Tink and I went to an ex-JW meet-up and I was suprised to see a fellow worker there who worked in one of our other buildings. I knew him as a fellow worker, but had no idea he was a JW. He had recently faded at the time of the meet-up, so while he was active I would have never known unless I point blank asked him, which isn't usually a normal question to ask someone...LOL..CC
so what helped you leave the jw's?
curious.
for me it was the itnernet and reading coc.
Tink was the first to start reading information on Kents board and later on TR's board. About 3 or 4 months into her reading, I began to do my own as well. I was very concerned about the lies the WTS had made over the years. We were also sick and tired of the hypocrosy within the members, in particular, with Tinks sisters and one of my ex-close friends who still remains an elder. When Tink sent a Xmas card to her sister, who is not a JW, her younger sister's husband read it and turned us in. That started the pressure from the elders to come before a JC. I explained our position and told them it was only a card and we just needed time, that Tink was just trying to recover from her Dad's suicide. They basically said it was time to get over it and to trust in God's Org...blah, blah, blah. They gave us a time and date to meet for a JC..I told them wwould not be there..do what you got to do, which they announced the following week that we DA'ed ourselves. We have no regrets what-so-ever. We are very happy being free from mind-control, head games, and lies.
